Visiting Full Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences at UCP, and director of the PhD program in Psychology: Emotions and Well-being. He holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Uppsala University, Sweden. He has worked as a lecturer and researcher in Sweden (Uppsala University, Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, and Mid Sweden University in Östersund), and in Portugal (Universidade Lusófona, ISCTE/IUL, and currently at Universidade Católica Portuguesa). At ISCTE/IUL, he was coordinator of the Center for Research and Social Intervention (CIS-IUL) and director of the master’s program in Psychology of Emotions. At Mid Sweden University, he was director of the Department of Psychology and Social Work and coordinator of the master’s program in Psychology of Emotions. His research has focused primarily on the relationship between emotion and cognition, especially how our emotions and affective states influence our attention. This research, partly integrated into several funded projects, has resulted in the publication of dozens of articles in scientific journals.
