Bio

Marta Faustino holds a PhD in Philosophy from NOVA University of Lisbon and is, since 2026, an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University. Between 2013 and 2025, she was an integrated researcher at the NOVA Institute of Philosophy (IFILNOVA), where she coordinated the FCT-funded project "Mapping Philosophy as a Way of Life: An Ancient Model, A Contemporary Approach" (2023–25). She is co-founder and current coordinator of the International Society for Philosophy as a Way of Life (ISPWL) and member of several international networks, including the Groupe International de Recherches sur Nietzsche (GIRN), HyperNietzsche, Red Iberoamericana Foucault, the Mellon Philosophy as a Way of Life Network and the Center for Metanoia Studies. She is a member of the editorial boards of Eidos: A Journal for Philosophy of Culture and Inquietude, as well as of the book series Filosofie dell’esercizio (ETS). Her main research areas are practical philosophy, philosophy as a way of life, and the reception of ancient philosophy in contemporary thought. She is the author of several publications on Nietzsche, Hadot, Foucault, and the Hellenistic philosophers, and co-editor of Nietzsche e Pessoa: Ensaios (Tinta-da-china, 2016), Rostos do Si: Autobiografia, Confissão, Terapia (Vendaval, 2019), The Late Foucault: Ethical and Political Questions (Bloomsbury, 2020), Filosofia Como Modo de Vida: Ensaios Escolhidos (Edições 70, 2022), and Hadot and Foucault on Ancient Philosophy: Critical Assessments (Brill, 2024).
