The first talk in the series ‘Environmental Sustainability & Human Behaviour’ will take place on 26 May at 5:30 pm in room 121 as part of the Master's Degree in Psychology and Environmental Sustainability.

This talk will be on the topic of ‘The Marine Protected Area of Community Initiative (MPACI): Community and Individual Involvement', and will be led by Frederico Almada, PhD.

Pedro Ventura is Councilor at the Municipality of Sintra, responsible for the departments of the Cities Intervention Office and Urban Rehabilitation, and the Environmental Sustainability and Energy Transition Office. He holds a degree in History with a specialization in Archaeology and a Master's in 20th Century History, along with a Postgraduate degree in Water Law. Since 2000, he has been providing scientific consultancy (Environmental Impact Studies, Detailed Plans, Urbanization Plans, Strategic Plans, Municipal Master Plans, among others) in the fields of cultural heritage and socioeconomics to various companies and private institutions.

Frederico Almada is a marine biologist, PhD in evolutionary biology and research at MARE, studies the ecological and evolutionary processes that shape marine biodiversity. Worked in marine ecology and biotechnology. Member of the team that originally developed the ocean literacy educational program Kids Dive, which seeks to promote science and the protection of marine ecosystems among schools’ students. Works at the Sintra City Hall and is currently involved in the establishment of a marine protected area in the region.
