As part of the seminar “Art and Diplomacy: Setting the Framework,” a lecture titled “Curatorial Power: Selection, Visibility, and Narrative” will take place on May 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 511 (CLSBE building).
This lecture will feature artists Alfredo Jaar and Aliza Nisenbaum and curator Rujeko Hockley, and will be moderated by Randi Charno Levine, former U.S. Ambassador to Portugal and Honorary Professor of Art and Diplomacy at UCP.
The panel will focus on curatorial decisions, discussing what is collected, exhibited, contextualized, or omitted, as well as how these decisions actively construct cultural meanings and historical narratives.
