He completed his PhD. at the Catholic University of Portugal in 2003, and he is since 2014 Associate Professor with Aggregation. He also teaches at the Institute for Political Studies of the UCP and is presently member of the Board of the Scientific Society of the Catholic University of Portugal, Deputy Director of the Inter-University Doctoral Programme in History (PIUDHist), senior researcher of the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC), and consultant for the CRC-W and the Research Centre for Religious History (CEHR) of the Catholic University of Portugal. His research and teaching areas are dedicated to 19th and 20th century Portuguese and international history in the political, institutional, cultural, social, and intellectual and media fields. He has authored c. 95 chapters in books and articles in collective works, academic journals and proceedings volumes both at a national and international level, and 16 single-authored books on various themes and epochs of contemporary Portuguese history. He has presented c. 100 papers and lectures at national academic events and also in Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, UK and USA.
