Has a degree in History from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, a Master's degree in Communication, Cinema and Television from the Catholic University of Lisbon, and is studying for a PhD in Communication Sciences at ISCTE. Since 2007, he has been the Content Director of the production company SP Televisão and, in 2022, he simultaneously took on the role of Content Director at SPi. He teaches at the Lisbon School of Social Communication and the Catholic University of Lisbon.
He has written for film and television, with around 40 titles to his credit, including short and feature films, miniseries, series and telenovelas. His works have been featured in the main international festivals. In 2011 he won the special jury prize for the series "Cidade Despida" at the International Festival of Detective Films And Television Programs in Moscow, and an Emmy in the category of Best International Telenovela for "Laços de Sangue", awarded by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In 2013 he was nominated for the Portuguese Film Academy's Sophia Awards in the category of Best Original Screenplay for his feature film "Assim Assim" and in the same year his short film "O dia mais feliz da tua vida" was also nominated for the same awards. In 2016, "Coração d'Ouro" won the Gold Medal at the New York Festival's World's Best TV & Films.
In 2019 he was nominated in the individual categories at the Seoul Drama Awards for Best Screenwriter, competing with Jed Mercurio (Bodyguard), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) and Claire Wilson and Mike Lesslie (Little Drummer Girl). In the same year, he co-authored the Portuguese-Spanish series "Auga Seca", shown on RTP, TVG and HBO. He is the creator and showrunner of the series "Glória", the first Portuguese original on the NETFLIX platform, which premiered in 2021. Glória won the Sophia Awards from the Portuguese Film Academy in the Best Series category and the Golden Globe in the fiction category. Internationally, "Glória" was pre-nominated for the Platino Iberoamericanos Awards in the categories of Best Series Creator and Best Series, and was nominated for the Rose d'Or awards in the Drama category.
Also in 2023, he premiered the series Códex 632, a co-production between Globoplay (Brazil) and RTP (Portugal), a project in which he is scriptwriter and showrunner. In 2024, the three-part documentary "SR. Presidente", of which he is co-author.
