Ana Sofia de Oliveira Branco holds a PhD and an MSc in Social Policy from the Institute of Social and Political Sciences, University of Lisbon. Since February 2026, she has served as Deputy Director of Social Security at the Lisbon District Centre of the Portuguese Social Security Institute (Instituto da Segurança Social, I.P.). She is a social worker, researcher and lecturer with extensive experience in social action, the management of social services and facilities, and the implementation of public policies.
Her main areas of research and professional practice include social and public policies, migration, asylum and refugee reception, homelessness, inequalities in access to housing, and Social Work. She is the author and co-author of several scientific publications and book chapters on these topics and has participated as a speaker at national and international conferences, seminars and academic events.
