September 26th marks the European Day of Languages, which this year has the theme ‘Languages open hearts and minds!’. This day was created by the Council of Europe and the European Commission, and has been celebrated since 2001.

Across Europe, 700 million Europeans from the 46 member states of the Council of Europe are encouraged to learn more languages, at any age, in and out of school. The Council of Europe promotes multilingualism across the continent, based on the conviction that linguistic diversity is a means of achieving greater intercultural understanding and a key element of Europe's rich cultural heritage.

The scientific area of Culture Studies and the Católica Languages & Translation, in collaboration with the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC), will celebrate this day with a series of events taking place between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and all students are invited to participate.
