In October 2025, the new Board of Directors of the Aristides de Sousa Mendes Foundation (FASM) took office, with Professor Inês Espada Vieira, assistant professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences, as a board member.

On January 27, in commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the FASM celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Aristides de Sousa Mendes Museum, attended by all members of the Board of Directors.

The Aristides de Sousa Mendes Foundation was established in 2000 with the objectives of publicising Aristides de Sousa Mendes' Act of Conscience and developing and implementing the project to restore the Sousa Mendes family home, Casa do Passal, in Cabanas de Viriato.
