Filipe Duarte is an interdisciplinary scholar in social policy, public policy, social work, and sustainable development. He earned his PhD from Carleton University (Canada) in 2019, after joining the institution in 2012, and holds a Public Policy Analysis Certificate from the London School of Economics (LSE). His research examines the implementation and governance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on public policy analysis, social policy innovation, sustainability education, social work’s contribution to policy change, and emerging ESG practices. Through this work, he contributes to advancing the 2030 Agenda by promoting evidence-based, socially inclusive, and policy-driven approaches to contemporary societal challenges.
He publishes and collaborates internationally across the fields of social policy, public policy, social work, political economy, and sustainable development, and engages regularly in interdisciplinary research networks and academic–policy partnerships
