The Image Critique module introduces students to the fundamentals of visual literacy and critical image analysis, providing conceptual and methodological tools to understand, interpret and evaluate different forms of visual communication. Through an interdisciplinary approach that combines theory and practice, the module explores the principles of visual composition, methods of structured critique, the symbolism of images, photography, typography and the ethical issues surrounding representation, relating these to fields such as art history, design, communication and advertising. By prioritising active, collaborative and practical methodologies, the module promotes the development of critical thinking, aesthetic sensitivity and the ability to analyse and produce visual content in an ethical, well-founded and contextualised manner, preparing students to critically interpret contemporary visual culture
