Goals:

• to provide an introduction to translation technologies, focusing on human-machine interaction;
• to make students familiar with the main concepts in this field and provide them with the basic competences for translation and reviewing using the most recent and most widely-used translation memory systems;
• to learn how to combine translation memories and ancillary tools: terminology managers, alignment tools and quality control;
• to learn about the potential and limitations of automated translation;
• to provide the students with the capacity to evaluate translation projects and devise the most appropriate strategies to carry out those projects.
