On March 20, between 2 pm and 3:30 pm, in Auditorium 1, the conference ‘Global Security Challenges: a view from down under’ will be given by Professor John Blaxland. The Australian Ambassador to Portugal, Anne Plunkett, will also be present at the lecture.

The world is facing an array of global threats: great power competition, climate change, and a spectrum of governance challenges, that are being accelerated by the fourth industrial revolution. At this conference, it will be explored a range of global security challenges and opportunities from the Australian perspective with insights from Washington DC.

Professor John Blaxland, currently based in Washington DC, is Director of the ANU North America Liaison Office and Professor of International Security and Intelligence Studies at the Australian National University. Prior to academia, Professor Blaxland was a military intelligence officer, serving as Chief Intelligence Staff Officer at HQ Join Operations Command, a defense attaché to Thailand and Myanmar and was posted as an exchange officer at the US Defense Intelligence Agency.
