Introduce students to the main theories and critical approaches concerning the relationship between cinema, space, and the contemporary world;
Analyse how cinema constructs, represents, and problematises different types of space (city, natural landscape, domestic space, communal space, spaces of movement);
Understand filmic space as an aesthetic, narrative, sensorial, and political dimension;
Develop film analysis skills focused on spatiality, considering image, sound, mise-en-scène, editing, and movement;
Promote a comparative and interdisciplinary approach, bringing together cinema, urban studies, cultural geography, landscape studies, and visual studies;
Encourage critical reflection on key issues of contemporaneity (inequality, identity, technology, ecology, mobility, belonging) through cinema.
