This seminar has four main objectives. First, it aims to address the nature of Translation Studies as an interdiscipline and more specifically to address Descriptive Translation Studies. Second, it aims to consider a selected set of key concepts, which have been developed and applied within Translation Studies. Third, it fosters critical reflection and thorough discussion about a selection of theoretical and methodological proposals, based on the previous critical reading of a selection of fundamental texts. Four, and last, it aims do develop autonomous research skills in Translation Studies (including skills needed to search and identify primary and secondary bibliography; to critically present and discuss theoretical and methodological proposals; to identify a relevant research question; to select, make operative and apply the pertinent theoretical and methodological framework for the purpose of addressing a research question).
