Theory and Thought in Social Sciences

6 ECTs / Semester / Portuguese

This subject seeks to describe and debate the main trends in sociology and its thought, ranging from its founders and classical texts onwards, in order to endow a theoretical framework underpinning the theoretical and practical study of various contemporary social problems. This also conveys the main paradigms in the field of the social sciences while framing debates in contemporary society. This fosters sociological reflection on current reality so as to enable research in this field.
