Israel Campos, a Master's student in Communication Studies, in the specialization in Strategic Communication and Leadership, was the winner of the first edition of the “Freedom of the Press” Award promoted by the Angolan Journalists' Union (SJA), in partnership with MISA-Angola, and supported by the USA and the European Union in Angola.
Israel Campos won the prize valued at one million kwanzas with his piece “Viúvas da Seca” (Widows of the Drought).
The “Freedom of the Press” Award was instituted on May 3, 2023, during the first National Conference of Journalists in Luanda, and aims to strengthen and value the performance of media professionals in Angola. The award distinguishes a journalist for their quality, audacity, commitment to the truth and encourages true investigative journalism.
