Professional Practice Lab I: Social Pre-Diagnosis

7 ECTS / Semester / Portuguese
This curricular unit introduces students to professional practice in Social Work within organisational, corporate, or community contexts, through participant observation, institutional analysis, and the preparation of a social pre-diagnosis. It aims to develop skills in critical analysis, application of action-research methods, integration of theoretical and technical knowledge, and consolidation of professional identity under supervision.

At the end of this curricular unit, the student should be able to:
1. Critically integrate into organisational, corporate, or community contexts of social intervention;
2. Identify social problems and needs through systematic observation and contextual analysis;
3. Apply principles of action research to preliminary diagnosis and planning of social responses;
4. Demonstrate ethical behaviour, professional responsibility, and teamwork skills;
5. Produce reflective reports articulating practice and theory.
