Professional Ethics in Social Work

6 ECTS / Semester / Portuguese
Objectives:
- Ground the Social Work profession and its professional identity;
- Prepare practitioners to address ethical issues and dilemmas in Social Work intervention;
- Establish and promote the competencies necessary for participation in processes of construction and decision-making;
- Contribute to an ethical intervention and approach in Social Work within the contemporary context, relating to both international and national ethical frameworks and guidelines for the profession.

Competences:
- Capacity to resolve ethical issues and dilemmas in Social Work intervention;
- Participation in processes of construction and decision-making;
- Knowledge and integration of international, local, and field-specific ethical guidelines into professional practice in Social Work;
- Ethical intervention in Social Work, responding to the ethical challenges that confront the profession in contemporary societies.
