- to provide an introduction to translation technologies, including machine translation;
- to make students familiar with the main concepts in this field and provide them with the basic competences for translation, reviewing and quality assurance using the most recent and most widely-used translation memory systems;
- to learn how to combine translation memories and ancillary tools: terminology managers, alignment tools and quality control;
- to explore the potential and limitations of machine translation;
- to provide the students with the capacity to evaluate translation projects and devise the most appropriate strategies to carry out those projects.
