Arts Management in Digital Age

6 ECTS / Semester / English

In an age of rapid development, it is essential to recognize the importance that the role of technology and the “digital” play in the (trans)formation of arts and cultures, as well as in the (trans)formation of the management of artistic and cultural projects and institutions. This seminar aims to explore the intersection of art and culture with the digital panorama of new technologies, seeking to provide knowledge and strategies for effective arts management in the digital age. The (trans)formative power of digital platforms, strategies and tools (in the last two decades) has been revolutionizing the way in which the arts are created, communicated/advertised and experienced. During the seminar, we will analyse and debate the different ways in which digital technologies have led to new paths of artistic expression, cultural communication, and public/audience involvement/engagement, as well as to a myriad of innovative approaches in managing artistic organizations/institutions, promoting artists, and in creating/maintaining an online presence that seeks to captivate audiences and communities in the digital age.
