The main purpose of this curricular unit is to provide students with the conditions to expand their knowledge on Social Work, connecting it with the newly emerging problematic of contemporary societies and tendencies and challenges in the social work field. This also aims at promoting the contact of students with authors that have made relevant contributions to, on the one hand, reflections about contemporary societies and, on the other hand, to consolidating the theoretical basis for Social Work.
