Undergraduate Program in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE)

Program Description

The first PPE programme in Portugal

The Faculty of Human Sciences has launched the first Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) in Portugal, one of the most prestigious degrees in Europe and North America

In addition to its highly qualified regular faculty, the programme boasts the collaboration of renowned visiting lecturers, namely Vítor Bento (Chairman of the Board of Directors at SIBS and Guest Full Professor at FCH-Católica), Paul Weithman (University of Notre Dame) and Robert Sherman (former US Ambassador to Portugal), to name a few.

A degree with history that looks to the future

Created at Oxford University in 1920, this interdisciplinary degree achieved considerable prominence and international growth as a result of the excellent training it offers its students. Its three-fold training in Philosophy, Politics and Economics produces graduates capable of a broad and integrative approach to the challenges facing contemporary societies.

Combining three areas of knowledge, the programme fosters critical thinking and enables its graduates to be responsible agents towards the transformation of society. The objective is therefore to train competent and ethically responsible professionals, able to respond to the considerable social, political and economic questions being raised in the present day at a global level.
