Geographic characterization of the Indian and the Pacific oceans, and adjacent seas, considering that they are distinct spaces due to the difference of the respective neighbouring cultures. Its historical evolution and interconnection since the first globalization (1519) to the present day.

The construction of mercantile networks and communities on a regional and global scale. Its main ports and economies and the current challenges posed by globalization, politics and climate change. The Indian and the Pacific Oceans as a diversified cultural and civilizational space.
