The main goal of this course is to enable students to develop academic skills, both scientific and pedagogical, encompassing competences that are expected for a future academic career but grounded on student’s individual career plans, and following an activity plan submitted by the student and validated by the course coordinator and the supervisor.
This course intends to address a set of skills that are considered essential to any student who is doing his/her PhD. It includes, but is not limited to, supervisory, teaching, research, project management, and science communication skills. In addition, it is intended to encourage students to adopt a proactive stance in building their own careers. Thus, although there is a previously defined curriculum, the student (with the support of his/her most direct supervisor) is free to select the academic and scientific skills that he/she intends to develop further
