On 29 May, we held the Faculty of Human Sciences' second Alumni Day, an event that aims to bring together all of the Faculty's alumni (from all cycles and postgraduate programmes) for a moment of conviviality and networking.
The event began with a panel formed by former students representing each scientific area: Ariana Reynaud Ribeiro (LEA ‘05), Carmo Só (CSC '02), Inês Gomes (PSIC '21 + PG Sleep Psychology '24) and Rodrigo Faria (SS '19). In this panel, each former student told what it was like coming to study at FCH, some stories they remember from their student days, and what their career path was like once they finished their studies, ending with what they're doing now.
This was followed by Ana Afonso, a former student of the undergraduate degree in Portuguese Language and Applied Foreign Languages and also of the postgraduate degree in Publishing, who explained to us ‘The Future of Publishing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’, where she presented the biggest challenges for both publishers and authors, who may see their texts used to ‘train’ artificial intelligence without their consent.
To close the event, Prof Catarina Duff Burnay, whose academic career has always been at the Faculty, shared her experience with everyone present, saying that the FCH has been part of her life since she was a first-year student until now, where she's Dean of the FCH.
After all the sharing by former students, it was time for a moment of conviviality among everyone, at a networking dinner. A prize was awarded at the end of the dinner to alumna Raquel Pascoal (LEA ‘24) who won the Alumni Day networking game.
