This seminar aims at training MA students in the reading, structuring, writing, revision and presentation of academic papers in Translation Studies, namely in the areas of translation history, process studies and sociology of translation.
Throughout the seminar, students are expected to develop knowledge, skills and competences with a view to:
- Critically read academic papers in Translation Studies;
- Acknowledge Translation Studies as a plural and transdisciplinary area in which different valid and relevant scientific works adopt, follow and present different (and even divergent) conceptual models of what translation is
- Explore different research methods in Translation Studies and discuss their challenges and limitations;
- Produce rigorous and relevant knowledge in Translation Studies in dialogue with the community;
- Communicate orally and in writing the knowledge produced about/in translation.
