Bio

PhD in Strategic Studies (ISCSP) and certified in Corporate Governance (INSEAD), Master in Philosophy of Action (UCP-FCH) and Degree in Economics (ISEG).

Currently he is President (& CEO) of the Portuguese Banking Association (APB); Member of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic University; Invited Full Professor at the Catholic University of Portugal (FCH) and at the University of Lisbon (ISCSP); Member of the Board of PWN (Professional Women Network) Lisbon; and member of the General Council of the Portuguese Institute of Corporate Governance.

In the past, he held various executive and non-executive positions in several companies, headed the Directorate General of the Portuguese Treasury, founded and was President of the Debt Management Agency (IGCP), was Director of the Bank of Portugal, Member of the European Monetary Committee, Executive Director of the Monetary Authority of Macau. He was also a member of the Council of State (2009-2016) of Portugal. He has taught Economics and Finance at ISEG, Nova SBE and Católica LSBE. Author of several books on Economics, European Affairs and Strategy, and commentator on Economics and Finance.
