“Media and Fear” is the 2025 edition theme of the Lisbon Winter School for the Study of Communication, an event that annually brings together senior scholars and PhD students to discuss central topics in communication studies. The Winter School takes a global approach to the study of central themes in communication studies.
The Lisbon Winter School is organized by the PhD program in Communication Sciences and the Center for Communication and Culture Studies - CECC of the FCH in partnership with the Center for Media@Risk of the Annenberg School for Communication (University of Pennsylvania), the School of Journalism and Communication (Chinese University of Hong Kong), the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism (University of Southern California) and the Faculty of Social Sciences (University of Helsinki).
The 5th Lisbon Winter School will take place between January 7 and 10 at UCP and Centro Cultural de Belém. Some of the keynote speakers confirmed include:
