Sandra Borges Tavares holds a PhD in Culture, Media and Creative Industries, with a specialisation in Youth, Media and Memory Studies from King's College London. Since 2023, she has been an Assistant Professor at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and an Integrated Researcher at the Centre for the Study of Communication and Culture (CECC).
In 2015, she was awarded a research grant by the International Olympic Committee to conduct her research in Brazil and the United Kingdom. In 2026, she published the book Youth Policy, Citizenship Education and Olympic Games Legacies, published by Palgrave Macmillan.
She is a member of the Research Group on Practices and Competences (NIP-C@M) within the Department of Communication Sciences at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa and is part of the trainer network of the Media Literacy and Journalism Association.
Her main research interests focus on youth, media and citizenship, with particular emphasis on the role of memory in young people's identity construction.
