Portuguese Economy

The Portuguese Economy course is designed to offer students the basic knowledge about the evolution and key aspects of the Portuguese economic situation, in recent times. Besides, the course intends to stimulate students’ interest and ability to understand the current situation of the economy, from a critical point of view.

More specifically, the course deals with the development of the Portuguese economy since the early 20th century, with a special focus on the European integration and external relations topics.

Besides, the distinction between economic growth and economic development is presented and illustrated, as well as the evolution of living conditions in Portugal (income distribution, poverty, etc.).
