Bio

Doctor´s degree in Letters at the Catholic University of Leuven (KULeuven, 2000) and in 2007 she completed a Post-doctoral training in Audiovisual Translation at the Universidad Autònoma de Barcelona. She worked as an Assistant Professor of the Postgraduation in Applied Linguistics at UECE (2000-2002), an Associate Professor of the Letters Institute at UFBA (2002-2014) and an Invited Professor of the Specialization in Cultural Accessibility at UFRJ (2013-2015 and 2016). Since 2000 she has researched and performed in the field of Audiovisual Translation and Accessibility. She created and coordinated the group TRAMAD – Translation, Media and Audio description (UFBA, 2004-2014), pioneering reception research in Brazil about AD for the cinema and dance performances as well as for the audience with learning disabilities, also in Europe. Her present research interests are media accessibility, audio description for the visual and audiovisual arts and subtitling for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. She is the co-author of a book on voice-over translation (Peter Lang, 2010/2013) and of many articles on audiovisual translation published in Brazil and abroad.
