The course unit deepens critical understanding of contemporary social transformations and the challenges they pose for professional Social Work practice and public policy design. It aims to develop advanced sociological analysis skills, the ability to interpret global dynamics, and to recognise their impacts on welfare systems, labour markets, migration flows, and the organisation of contemporary societies.
By the end of the course, students should be able to: critically analyse global trends and structural processes of social change; identify key contemporary societal challenges and their links to risk, uncertainty, and social inequalities; relate social transformations to implications for Social Work practice and public policies; apply sociological concepts and tools to demographic, migratory, labour and welfare-state
phenomena; use scientific sources and international data to support diagnostics; and communicate with scientific clarity and critical synthesis.
