The anthropological perspective of the Family

6 ECTS / Semester / Portuguese
  • To promote the dialogue between Psychology and Anthropology, with the aim of presenting a broad spectrum of realities for the study of the family, broadening the visions of family organization, kinship relations, domestic structures and the community-family connection.
  • Acquire knowledge and skills that prepare to work with people from different geographical and cultural backgrounds and to understand their values, attitudes, expectations and behaviors related to family dominance and family-community interactions.
  • Understand the role of the family - in its different family organizations - as the fundamental structure of all human societies.
  • Recognize the ethnic specificities of expectations related to the family in different areas of human life 
  • Critically analyze the role of the family in the socialization and education of children, in meeting basic emotional and cognitive human needs, and in social strengthening.
