
The new Board of the Faculty of Human Sciences took office on March 18, and Professor Catarina Duff Burnay was appointed Dean for the three-year term 2025-2028.
In her inauguration speech, the Dean expressed her joy and gratitude for the trust placed in her team, ‘promising to honour the mission of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, to teach with quality, to cultivate science, to have truth and respect as guiding principles, and to take Christian humanism as the basis of all action’.
The President, Professor Isabel Capeola Gil, highlighted Catarina Duff Burnay's qualities, emphasising her ‘gentle assertiveness’ and her remarkable career, being widely recognised as a reference both in the academic world and in the field of television fiction, with emphasis on her international career. She also mentioned the importance of the Faculty of Human Sciences and, in particular, the Humanities, which not only promote critical research, but also human research, which is essential for the integral development of society.
