PhD in Humanistic Studies (Translation) from Universitat Rovira i Virgili with a thesis titled “Signaled and tested skills in the recruitment processes of translators in Portugal”. He holds a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures – English and German Studies (1997) from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon and a post-graduation in Translation (2003) from the same institution.

He teaches Portuguese as a Foreign Language, Translation and Translation Technologies. He is a researcher at CECC - Research Centre for Communication and Culture. His main areas of research are the impact of translation technologies on translation and translators, translation economics and translator training.

He is also a freelance translator specializing in finance, software localization and transcreation. He collaborates regularly with major fund management companies and he is language lead for the external localization team of the largest American tech company
