Holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, with specialisation in Social Psychology, from the University of Lisbon, he also completed a Post Doctoral Programme in Integral Human Development at the Portuguese Catholic University.
From 2021 to 2023 he was a lecturer in executive training at Católica-Lisbon, being an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences since 2024. Since 2022 he has been an Integrated Researcher at Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC) and, since 2024, he has also been a collaborator researcher at Católica Research Centre for Psychological, Family and Social Wellbeing (CRC-W).
Between 2022 and 2024 he coordinated the Postdoctoral Project More Connection: Resilience in Transnational Families (CECC/CAD0S). Since 2024 coordinates the project Connection and Well-being: the Importance of Social Contexts for Members of Transnational Families (CECC/FCH).
He is an Expert in the evaluation of Science and Technology projects at COST – European Cooperation in Science and Technology (since 2020). He is the Portuguese representative on the management committee of the COST Action TraFaDy – Transnational Family Dynamics in Europe action, being Co-Leader of the Health and Well-being Group (until 2026).
He has participated in several international projects, receiving COST awards for the dissemination of science and participation in international research (2018, 2023); he was a visiting scholar in Athens, Greece (2023) and at the University of Luxembourg (2024); he has been a lecturer and guest researcher in several institutional projects, highlighting his participation in the University Pact for the Promotion of Respect for Diversity, Culture of Peace and Human Rights of the Brazilian Federal Government (2018). He received the Medal of Merit from the House of Portugal in São Paulo, Brazil (2023) and from the Valongo City Council, Porto (2021).
