Invited Associate Professor in the Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) program. She holds a B.A. from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (1991), her M.A. in International Relations from the University of San Diego (1995), and her PhD in Government, with Distinction, from Georgetown University (2003). Ana has taught and developed research projects in universities in the USA and in Portugal, having published peer-reviewed book chapters and articles in outlets such as Comparative Politics and Business & Politics. She was the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) of Qualify Just_IPS (2020-2022), a Portuguese enterprise that provides consulting services around the world for entities in the corrections and justice sector. Ana has led various research projects and scientific teams, including an FCT “Starting Grant” (2014-2018) on "Models of Governance and the Provision of Public Services”. Based on her transversal expertise, she has been invited by numerous international funding agencies to serve on scientific juries evaluating applications for funding in R&D: these have included the European Commission; the European Science Foundation; the United Nations Organisation for Industrial Development (UNIDO), the Innovation Fund Denmark, among others. She has also served on the board of various NGOs, such as the Association for the Promotion and Development of the Information Society (APDSI) and the Fulbright Alumni Association Portugal. Ana is also an Invited commentator in International Politics for the national broadcast television SIC Notícias.
