To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Translation Prize, the Faculty of Human Sciences awarded the students who presented the best translations into Portuguese of texts in Spanish, English, French and German, with a trip to Luxembourg to discover the work of the European Parliament's Directorate-General for Translation.
“The Translate Prize aims to give visibility to translation and the way it builds our common identity in Europe. Knowing the work of the General Translation Directorate in the European Parliament is undoubtedly an enriching experience for young people who, in general, have little awareness of the role that translation plays in our lifes and in Europe's destinations, as well as in the relationship with others ”, says Professor Alexandra Lopes, associate dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences and President of the Organizing Committee of the Translate Prize.
Almost 100 public and private schools in Portugal participated on the 20th edition of Translate Prize. This edition was sponsored by the Goethe-Institut, Oxford School, the Instituto Espanhol de Línguas, Cambridge School, British Council, Gradiva, EF - Education First and the Embassies of Austria, Canada and the USA.
