Arts, Literature and Culture: A religious perspective

(Artes, Literatura e Cultura. Uma perspetiva religiosa)

(15-16 November 2022)

The transdisciplinary Research Group LCR – Literature, Cinema and Religion, based at CECC – Research Centre for Communication and Culture, at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and coordinated by Maria do Rosário Lupi Bello (CECC and UAb) and Luiz Filipe Pondé (Academic Director of Labô – PUC-SP), aims to develop research activities around a specific thematic core: how the religious dimension exceeds, in many ways, the strict confessional scope of liturgy, of ritual and even of spirituality, and is reflected in contemporary arts, thought and culture in multiple ways. Therefore, the group regards the religious dimension as one of the fundamental keys to the apprehension of human reality in its diversity.

The conference "Arts, Literature and Culture: A religious perspective" aims to bring together a large group of researchers working on themes related to this topic, in to order to cultivate a real exchange of ideas. In addition to the keynote speakers delivering lectures, this encounter will feature thematic workshops in which researchers will be able to present succinct versions of project proposals, which will then be discussed with two previously appointed respondents/discussants, and by the audience at large.

Participation will be in person, with the plenary sessions (only) made available online.
