This Curricular Unit aims to: Understand the characteristics of scientific theories and their development and validation processes; Analyse the major theories and models of human learning within a historical context; Understand how different theories conceptualize the relationship between learning and development; Elucidate on the relationships between the different learning theories; Reflect on new learning processes; Relate the connectionist learning approach with the network society; Understand the relationship between memory and learning; Understand the importance of mental representations and their relationship to the processes of knowledge acquisition.
