Data Analysis

6 ECTS / Semester / English

Analytical skills are fundamental to understanding complex social systems. The main objective of this course is to deepen statistical knowledge and methodological design, allowing to decide on the veracity of scientific results, focused on Psychology. Students should be able to:

a) understand the different statistical tests that are frequently used in social sciences;
b) make decisions about which statistics to use in given situations;
c) derive conclusions based on data analysis.

Complex regression models (e.g. path analysis), models with moderation and mediation effects, structural equation models, forecasting models (e.g. time series), Bayesian statistics and use of artificial intelligence algorithms. The presentation of different methods involves a more practical/empirical component, based on the construction of analysis situations, with support of statistical software.
