This curricular unit aims to provide an introduction to specialized translation in the economic and legal fields, from English to Portuguese. The unit is based on a reflection on theoretical issues relevant to this type of translation, the consideration and analysis of the most common types of texts in these fields and their linguistic specificities. The aim is to develop a competence in the analysis of economic and legal texts, taking into account their specific terminological, syntactic and stylistic features, and a practice of translation thus sustained of different textual genres in these two domains.
