Comparative Cultures in Asia

The Seminar Comparative Cultures in Asia aims to provide theoretical and analytical tools for the study of cultural representations and cultural responses to the challenges of the global world affecting contemporary Asian societies, such as migration and displacement, shifting configurations of space and time, environmental destruction and strategies of sustainable development, performances of gender, body and personhood, cultural meanings of trauma and reconciliation. In order to achieve the learning outcomes, the topics of the syllabus we will presented and discussed through the lens of arts, literature, philosophy, architecture, cinema and documentary.
