The book A crítica de Jorge de Sena was recently published, with the support of Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal. It is the result of a partnership between CECC and ILCML – Instituto de Literatura Comparada Margarida Losa, in which the following CECC researchers collaborated: Joana Meirim (co-organiser, together with Joana Matos Frias), Jorge Vaz de Carvalho, Maria Sequeira Mendes, Miguel Quadrio, Nuno Amado and Alexandra Lopes.
About the book
Following on from the symposium "A crítica de Jorge de Sena", in November 2019, to mark the 100th anniversary of Jorge de Sena's birthday, this book gathers several texts specifically dedicated to his essayistic output – a format in which de Sena was arguably as successful as in his poetry or fiction, but which remains relatively little studied.
This volume aims to foster new ways of reading de Sena's critical essays on Luís Vaz de Camões, Fernando Pessoa, Shakespeare, Portuguese and Brazilian literature, literary theory, translation, theatre, and cinema.
