Alexandre Abrantes Neves, a final-year student in the Undergraduate Program in Communication and Cultural Sciences from the Faculty of Human Sciences has been awarded a Gulbenkian Merit Scolarship 2022. The student was one of 15 students selected in the area of Social Sciences. The applications were open to undergraduate and master's degree students in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Every year, the Gulbenkian Merit Scolarships support exceptional students attending higher education in Portugal, promoting their talent and stimulating research.

"To have been awarded a Merit Scolarship 2022 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation brings, above all, an increased sense of responsibility. Not only because of the trust and confidence in my abilities, but also because of the desire to show the academic excellence that was instilled by the Faculty of Human Sciences and its faculty members. I am very excited with this first opportunity of scientific research and I am sure that I will increase my range of skills" says Alexandre Abrantes Neves.

The awarded students will have the opportunity to participate in an immersive talent enrichment program, with tutors of recognized merit and monitoring by a Scientific Committee dedicated to each area of the program. The program also includes group development sessions, thus creating an environment for networking and sharing among the students that will continue even after the fellowship period.
