The Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC) will be hosting the Doctoral Winter Seminar on the topic of "Researching Communication in Times of Disruption"
COVID-19 has disrupted everyday life around the globe, revealing the interconnectedness between countries, societies and economies. While it demonstrated the relevance of professional news and media organizations, it disrupted interpersonal, intergroup and public communication practices. Public and private organizations have suddenly been faced with the need to adopt new tools to engage with different stakeholders, including employees working from home or social distancing in the workplace. Interpersonal communication practices have also been reconfigured, with an accompanying increase in dependence on communication technologies that have become pivotal for the preservation of family and social relations, thus opening new avenues of discussion about the establishment of empathy via technological devices.
