The learning outcomes of the seminar are placed in the context of the study of the major lines of inquiry into the theories of culture and of representation which provide a seminal field of research into the less visible structures of change in modern and contemporary societies. The tools for analysis provided by theories, rooted in the study of specific situations and cases, contribute to a deeper understanding of socio-cultural phenomena and a more alert awareness of the transversal nature of identity problems in contemporary societies. Through debate, dialogue and the presentation of organized and critical work on the subjects to be developed, students are expected to increase their competence in social analysis and criticism and, therefore, lay solid grounds for their future activities in the field of social work.
