Psycholinguistics and Language Acquisition

6 ECTS / Semester / Portuguese

To promote awareness of the cognitive processes involved in language comprehension and production and to understand language as a cognitive skill in articulation with perception, attention, memory or categorization.

To develop a critical awareness about the specificity of foreign language learning, both with respect to first language acquisition and with regards to learning other foreign languages.

To allow the consideration of issues such as bilingualism, linguistic modality, interference or attrition as phenomena of linguistic contact that may surface in the process of learning a foreign language.
