The objective of Legal Fundamentals for Social Work is the learning of structural legal concepts, the study of the fundamental rights foreseen in the Portuguese Constitutional Law and the analysis of several specific legal regimes related to Social Work, which implement said fundamental rights.

The main purpose is to provide the students with elementary legal skills, in order to, for instance, construe a legal regime, identifying the respective nature, as well as the respective position – from a formal and substantial perspective, within the Portuguese legal framework
